More than 1.1 million Coloradans under age 65 spend more than 10 percent of their pretax income on health care, according to a new report from Families USA.

Of those, 83 percent have insurance.

The report also says 314,000 Coloradans will spend more than 25 percent of their pretax income on health care in 2009.

“As our findings make clear, high health-care costs are not just a problem of the uninsured,” said Ron Pollack, executive director of Families USA.

U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette and Sen. Michael Bennet, both Colorado Democrats, said they are pushing for major health-care reform in the coming months.

DeGette, vice chairwoman of the Committee on Energy and Commerce, said the committee has held five hearings on health-care reform and that she hopes the House will pass a measure by the end of August.
