The stock market has grown a lot quieter in recent weeks, as the strong rally has soothed investors’ nerves.

The VIX, one of the market’s main measures of volatility, is near its lowest levels since September.

And on Tuesday, the market enjoyed its calmest session since the day after Christmas, a Friday that featured few traders stirring.

The S&P 500 index swung by just 1.14 percentage points within Tuesday’s trading — in the morning, it got as high as up .05 percent, and in the afternoon, it fell as low as down 1.09 percent.

That’s way down from the intraday swings of 3 to 6 percentage points investors had to endure earlier this year.
