The owners of the Linens ‘n Things Inc. brand restarted a website for selling bedding and other home goods after acquiring the retailer’s intellectual property rights out of bankruptcy last year.
The new Linens site has been available since earlier this month and will officially launch on Tuesday, Karine Joret, a spokeswoman for Hilco Consumer Capital LP, one of the owners, said Friday in an interview. Hilco and Gordon Brothers Brands LLC brought the company out of bankruptcy in February so they could reuse the name as a licensed brand. The acquisition price wasn’t disclosed. Linens, formerly the second-largest home-goods chain, filed for bankruptcy last year after a $1.3 billion buyout in 2006 by Apollo Management LP.
The purchase included the retailer’s name, bridal and gift registries and brands such as Hotel Living. The owners said then that they would sell the right to use the name on goods sold at branded in-store shops, through other retailers and online, rather than through a single chain.
