We often hear about how this is the worst recession since the Great Depression. Well, now we’re finally enjoying the cool side of that pillow.

When the S&P 500 index crawled back into positive territory for the year to date on Monday, it marked its best 39-day run since 1933, according to Standard & Poor’s.

The 34.1 percent gain running up to Monday’s close of 907.24 was the index’s 72nd best, with all of the other 71 occurring in 1932 or 1933.
