Caliche Buffaloes
Coach: Jason Santomaso
Record: 16-0
Hot at the plate: Craig Debus leads with a .600 average and has power to all fields.
Menace on the mound: Debus, Cody Zink and Allan Chartier give Santomaso a wealth of arms.
Around the yard: The Buffs are on a roll, and more than one coach has referred to them as a buzz saw. The 7-5 result in the regionals against Manzanola perhaps opened the door of hope just a little.
Granada Bobcats
Coach: Manuel Gonzales Sr.
Record: 16-0
Hot at the plate: Tyndan Marquez, Miguel Martinez and Dustin Bohlander are the leaders at the dish.
Menace on the mound: A three-headed monster in seniors Marquez, Christian Dulac and sophomore Chris DeLeon. They are as good as any on this level.
Around the yard: Gonzales has been at this for a while, having won championships in 1991 and 1995. The Bobcats will be tough outs.
Haxtun Fightin’ Bulldogs
Coach: Alan Coffin
Record: 11-6
Hot at the plate: Seniors Alex Ochoa and Kendall Kroeger have been the big bats for the Fightin’ Bulldogs this season.
Menace on the mound: Dean Wagoner and Ryan Dee will have to be at their absolute best against a stout Granada offense.
Around the yard: The bats were clicking in a 13-9 victory over Stratton in the regionals, but will it carry over?
Herzl/RMHA Tigers
Coach: Mike Wolfe
Record: 8-3
Hot at the plate: Sam Rotbart, Mitchell Dobro and Dylan Aron are all tough outs for the Tigers.
Menace on the mound: Rotbart struck out 12 and walked three in a 3-2 win over Nucla last Thursday in Grand Junction.
Around the yard: The Tigers are in uncharted territory but have a good leader in Rotbart.
