Cheyenne Mtn. Indians
Coach: Bernie Moncallo
Record: 21-3
Hot at the plate: CF-P Austin Darby, who transferred from Tampa, Fla. In three games last weekend, the sophomore went 7-for-13 with a home run, two triples and a double.
Menace on the mound: Darby struck out 10 in a game last week.
Around the yard: The Indians were befuddled by their loss to Mountain View. They hit. They scored. But they gave up a lot of runs on just a few hits.
Mtn. View Mtn. Lions
Coach: Greg Brock
Record: 22-2
Hot at the plate: Big three are Logan Moore, Derek Neeper and Nick Miller. They’re all hitting over .420 and have combined for more than 13 home runs.
Menace on the mound: Miller and Neeper are aces 1 and 2.
Around the yard: The Lions have a loss to give and enough pitching depth for the championship game.
Silver Creek Raptors
Coach: Trevor Platt
Record: 18-6
Hot at the plate: CF Scott Hoyt leads the team in RBIs and is 5-for-9 with two doubles, four RBIs and two stolen bases in his past two games. . . . SS Eric VanDyke is hitting about .500.
Menaces on the mound: Tyler Gibbons and Hoyt are the top two arms, and freshman Kevin Johnson is a strong No. 3.
Around the yard: The Raptors already eliminated top-seeded and Northern League rivals Broomfield and Roosevelt and realize the title goes through Mountain View.
Wheat Ridge Farmers
Coach: Adam Miller
Record: 18-5
Hot at the plate: RF Eric Shannon leads the team with eight home runs. . . . CF Parker Orms can rip it and run. . . . SS-2B Brendan Marvel and P Jacob Nelson can rake.
Menace on the mound: Nelson, arguably the best in 4A, had a perfect game for four innings against Mountain View before he gave up one hit and the Farmers lost 3-2.
Around the yard: Preseason No. 1 potentially the deepest-hitting team left.
