DENVER—Colorado prison officials are lifting restrictions on visits to inmates that were enacted after swine flu spread to the state.

The state Department of Corrections said Wednesday that it was lifting the restrictions that were enacted May 4 in state and private prisons.

The department says employees and visitors are still being checked for signs of illness before they can enter facilities.

Also Wednesday, state health officials said Colorado now has 52 confirmed cases of the virus in 11 counties. That’s up from 48 Tuesday.

Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Denver, Douglas, Eagle, Fremont, Garfield, Jefferson, La Plata and Morgan counties all have confirmed cases. Four victims are known to have been hospitalized.
