Counting Crows are a long way from their chart-topping ’90s pinnacle, but guilt-free fans of their occasionally twangy, always-earnest pop-rock can enjoy Adam Duritz and company when they hit Red Rocks on July 29 with openers Augustana. Rock the Bells ’09 returns to Red Rocks on Aug. 6 with another lineup of hip-hop greats, including Nas and Damian Marley, Busta Rhymes and Outkast’s Big Boi, House of Pain feat. La Coka Nostra, RZA vs. GZA, Reflection Eternal feat. Talib Kweli and Hi-Tek, Slum Village, Slaughterhouse and K’Naan, The Knux and Chali 2NA and more to be announced in the coming weeks. Dream Theater, the hilariously over-the-top prog-metal band that wears its glittering technical expertise proudly, will headline the Progressive Nation 2009 tour with Zappa Plays Zappa, Pain of Salvation and Beardfish. Tickets for the Aug. 25 show at the Buell Theatre are on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($39.50-$79.50, Ticketmaster)

Tori Amos, never a stranger to Denver, returns July 21 with a show at the Paramount Theatre as part of her “Sinful Attraction” tour, a string of dates to promote her new album, “Abnormally Attracted to Sin.” Check back here or for on-sale dates and prices.

The Dead Weather, the new Jack White side project featuring Alison Mosshart of the Kills on vocals and Mr. White Stripes himself on drums, will play the Ogden Theatre on Aug. 17 — a show that’s sure to sell out quickly. Lebowskifest seems like the kind of event that should have visited the Front Range sooner, considering the number of screenings “The Big Lebowski” enjoys here annually. No matter, the event will hit the Ogden on Sept. 8 to celebrate the Coen Brothers’ 1998 cult film in all its stoned glory. Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. today. ($20.50-$25, Ticketmaster)

Patrick Wolf will headline the Nylon Summer Music Tour, which includes fellow dance kids/haircut emergencies Living Things, Plasticines and Jaguar Love. Tickets for the June 12 at the Oriental Theater are on sale at 10 a.m. today. ($15-$20, Ticketmaster)

Peter Frampton plans to present an “evening with” (i.e., no openers) at the Boulder Theater on Aug. 11. For the price, let’s hope he plays a long set. Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($48.50, )

DJ AM, aka celebrity fixture Adam Goldstein, and former Fresh Prince collaborator DJ Jazzy Jeff are headlining the Bacardi B-Live tour, which plays Beta nightclub in LoDo on June 3. Yeah, it’s on a Wednesday, but if you’re 21 and up, it’s also free.
