PITTSBURGH — St. Louis put right fielder Ryan Ludwick on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday with a strained right hamstring and recalled outfielder Nick Stavinoha from Triple-A Memphis (Tenn.).
Ludwick was hitting .274 with eight homers and 26 RBIs. He was the Cardinals’ top batter against left- handed pitchers, sporting a .323 average.
