LONDON — Prince Harry is going to New York for his first formal overseas engagements outside Britain.
It also will be the 24-year-old royal’s first visit to the United States since the death of his mother, Princess Diana, in Paris on Aug. 31, 1997. The trip is in part intended to help ease the prince into his royal role, St. James’s Palace announced.
The prince is due to begin the two-day trip with a visit to the World Trade Center site on May 29. The next day, he is due to take part in a charity polo match.
