LOVELAND — Bail has been set at $750,000 for a Loveland man accused of stabbing another man to death two weeks ago.
Nineteen-year-old Larry Walters is charged with second-degree murder and first-degree assault in the death of David Shern. The 34-year-old Shern died May 1, one day after being stabbed in the upper back during an April 30 altercation in North Lake Park.
Shern’s mother, Patricia, told Judge Stephen Schapanski on Thursday that Walters was a danger to the community. Police have released no details on the incident or what led them to accuse Walters.
Walters’ public defender, Norm Townsend, told the judge he plans to ask for a bail reduction at a hearing scheduled for May 20.
