During runway work this summer, the Eagle County Regional Airport plans to use the asphalt millings from the project. About 62,000 tons of millings will be reused at the airport for safety improvements including runway shoulders. About 40,000 tons will improve an 8-mile stretch on Cottonwood Pass; 5,000 tons will be used in a park parking lot; and another 5,000 tons will be spread in a parking lot for a new recycling center.

Runway work began April 1 and continues through Aug. 31.
