FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Regis Jesuit won its 15th consecutive Class 5A state high school boys swimming and diving championship Saturday.
Regis Jesuit finished in first place in two of three relays and two individual events, racking up 364 1/2 points in the two-day meet at Edora Pool Ice Center. Highlands Ranch (273) edged Cherry Creek (263 1/2) for second place.
Regis won the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1 minute, 33.84 seconds, a state record. Regis also picked up wins from their 200 freestyle relay team and from Alex Reinhardt in the 500 freestyle and Blas Yslas in the 100 breaststroke.
Steve Schmuhl, representing the combined Legacy/Horizon team, was the only double winner. He set Class 5A records in the 100 and 200 freestyles, with times of 45.28 and 1:38.4, respectively.
Cherry Creek’s 400 free relay team closed the meet by winning in a state-record time of 3:06.13.
