Playing a matchup and trying to instill confidence, manager Clint Hurdle returned Garrett Atkins to the cleanup spot. “For our lineup to get on a roll, we need him to hit fourth,” Hurdle said. Atkins went 0-for-3 before Ian Stewart pinch hit for him in the ninth.
