PUEBLO, Colo.—Granada won the Class 1A title with a 1-0 extra inning win over Caliche.
The game, played Friday, was decided on a grounder by Granada’s Michael Ortiz that bounced off of Caliche second baseman Peter Lambrecht, allowing Aaron Vega to score from second base.
Granada pitchers Christian Dulac and Chris DeLeon combined for the shutout, allowing just one hit in the game.
Granada, which had lost the state title game to Eads in 2007 and 2008, finished the season undefeated with an 18-0 record.
Caliche (17-1) had runners on first and second in the bottom of the eighth, but a fly ball to right field ended the game.
