The winner: Bill Weathergill, Cañon City: The Rainbow Bridge was constructed by my great-uncle Charles G. Sheely and his Colorado Bridge and Construction Co. It was completed in May 1923 at a total cost of $89,000. The multiple span, reinforced concrete bridge has 11 spans, 90 feet in length, with an overall length of 1,110 feet. After reconstruction in 1966 at a cost of $625,000, the bridge was placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
