Two teen-agers were arrested early this morning at a Centennial alternative school after they allegedly smashed computers and painted graffiti at the school.
The teens, ages 16 and 17, were arrested for investigation of burglary, trespassing and criminal mischief at 3:49 a.m. at Cherry Creek P.R.E.P., 14076 E. Briarwood Ave., according to a news release by the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Department.
Sheriff’s deputies who responded to an emergency call saw broken glass and heard loud banging noises when they arrived at the school, the news release says.
The boys had allegedly kicked in windows to enter two outbuildings where they damaged computer equipment, turned over desks and discharged a fire extinguisher.
They also allegedly painted graffiti on the outside of the main building.
Deputies arrested the boys when they tried to run from the school. The damage was estimated at $7,000. The suspects were being held on $6,000 bail each.
A K-9 named Aragorn cut his paw on a sliver of glass and was treated at the Alameda East Animal Hospital, the news release says.
