Andrew Smith ran 105 miles last week but still managed to win the Colfax Half Marathon on Sunday. He probably would have run a lot faster than his winning 1 hour, 10 minutes, 33 seconds if he hadn’t run 25 miles the day before.

“I’m in a little bit of pain, a little sore,” said Smith, who is training for Grandma’s Marathon next month in Duluth, Minn. “I finished strong, I feel strong, which is the key.”

Smith, who won the Cherry Creek Sneak last month, is a native of Guyana. He’s hoping to run 2 hours, 14 minutes at Grandma’s.

“I feel good. My lung power is good,” Smith said. “I just felt like going and going.”

Bob Weiner was second in the half-marathon, finishing in 1:12:48.
