With a forecast metro high of 90 today and highs in the 70s and 80s across the south and central mountains this weekend, the rapid snowmelt has created flood dangers across the High County.

The National Weather Service issued flood warnings for rivers across the region:

  •  The Crystal River in Pitkin County.
  •  The Los Pinos River near Durango, because of a planned release from the Vallecito Reservoir.
  •  The Elk River near Milner and Steamboat Springs in Routt County.
  •  The Yampa River below Craig in Moffat County.

There’s still plenty of snow to melt with state’s snowpack still at 56 percent of its 30-year average, according to the Natural Resources Conservation Service in Lakewood.

The forecast Monday in Durango is for a high of 82 degrees. The high temperature in Aspen is expected to be 77 degrees.

The high in Denver Sunday was 79, seven degrees hotter than the average temperature for the date, according to weather records.

The metro region could sees highs in the 90s Monday and Tuesday, with a chance of thunderstorms each day through Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures in Denver are expected to cool into the 60s Thursday and Friday before returning to the 70s for the weekend, according to the forecast.
