SALIDA — A coroner’s inquest has been scheduled for Tuesday in Chaffee County to determine whether the death of a woman who fell 10 feet from a cliff into a stream was accidental.
Forty-seven-year-old Nancy Ann Mason died May 30, 2004, while fishing along Chalk Creek. Her husband, Dan, and a friend, Efren Gallegos, said they heard Nancy Mason scream twice after she slipped.
Sheriff’s officials say that an autopsy showed her neck was broken and she couldn’t have screamed, and that it was so noisy along the creek that they couldn’t have heard her scream even if she had.
