COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—The grandfather of an 8-month-old boy who died this week has been arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder in the child’s death and is being held without bond in the El Paso County jail.

Fifty-one-year-old Willie B. Allmon was arrested Thursday.

An autopsy determined the baby, Isiah Wilson, died from a blow to the head.

Court records show Allmon has a lengthy criminal history and is a registered sex offender. He initially was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of felony child abuse and was released after posting $25,000 bond.

Sheriff’s Lt. Lari Sevene says an arrest warrant accusing him of first-degree murder was issued after the child died.

Deputies were called Monday night to a home in the Security-Widefield area, where they found an unconscious infant having difficulty breathing. The boy was taken to a local hospital, where he died the next day.
