BOULDER, Colo.—Boulder police say a man caught puncturing the tire of a patrol vehicle is the same person responsible for slashing the tires of nearly 50 vehicles around the city.
Thirty-one-year-old Alexander Kabelis of Boulder was arrested Thursday on suspicion of criminal mischief and carrying a concealed weapon.
Police say an officer spotted Kabelis crouched behind a police SUV at about 7:15 p.m. Thursday. The officer went to investigate and discovered one of the tires leaking air.
Kabelis was arrested a few blocks away.
Authorities say he had a knife in his pocket. He allegedly admitted slashing tires on 46 vehicles—including nine law enforcement vehicles—since April 24.
