FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Defending champion Syracuse is back in the NCAA lacrosse title game.

The second-seeded Orange defeated third-seeded Duke 17-7 in a Division I semifinal Saturday. Syracuse (15-2) is seeking its 11th national title and will play in Monday’s final against Cornell.

Fifth-seeded Cornell stunned top-seeded Virginia 15-6. Cornell won the first NCAA Division I title in 1971 and followed it up with wins in 1976 and 1977.

Kenny Nims and Patrick Perritt each had four goals for Syracuse. Cody Jamieson added two goals, giving him six for the tournament.

Cornell (13-3), which got three goals and three assists from Rob Pannell, jumped on Virginia (15-3) early, taking a quick 3-0 lead.

In a stretch spanning the first and second quarters, Cornell held the Cavaliers, who averaged more than 13 goals a game this year, scoreless for 17 minutes.

Revolution’s woes grow

TORONTO — Amado Guevara scored twice and Dwayne DeRosario added a goal as Toronto FC beat New England 3-1, stretching the Revolution’s MLS winless streak to six games.

Brian Ching and Kei Kamara scored in the first half as the Houston Dynamo defeated the San Jose Earthquakes 3-1.

• Second-half substitute Eduardo Lillingston scored as Chivas USA salvaged a 1-1 draw with the Kansas City Wizards.

Drew Moor‘s goal in the 31st minute helped FC Dallas tie the Los Angeles Galaxy 1-1.

• Real Salt Lake limited D.C. United to one shot on goal to earn its first point on the road with a 0-0 tie.

Garcia-Lopez breaks the ice

KITZBUEHEL, Austria — Guillermo Garcia-Lopez of Spain won his first ATP Tour title, rallying past Julien Benneteau of France 3-6, 7-6 (1), 6-3 in the Austrian Open final.

Aravane Rezai of France beat Lucie Hradecka of the Czech Republic 7-6 (2), 6-1 to win her first WTA Tour title at the Strasbourg International in France.

Alexandra Dulgheru, a Romanian qualifier ranked No. 201, won the Warsaw Open in Poland in her WTA Tour debut by beating Alona Bondarenko of Ukraine 7-6 (3), 3-6, 6-0.

• Serbia defeated Germany to win the World Team Cup in Duesseldorf, Germany, becoming only the second team in the tournament’s 32-year history to hoist the trophy in its debut.
