Helio Castroneves capped an amazing 5 1/2 weeks by winning Sunday’s Indianapolis 500. Last month, Castroneves was acquitted of most charges at a federal tax evasion trial, and the remaining count was thrown out Friday. Sunday, “Spiderman” once again climbed the fence after becoming the ninth driver to win the race three times.
“He (Roger Penske) smiles only two times: on his birthday and when he wins the Indy 500,” Castroneves said of his owner’s 15th Indy title.
Meanwhile, the Coca-Cola 600 was postponed by rain for the first time in 50 years. The race will run at 10 a.m. today (KDVR-31).
