JUNEAU, Alaska—Two new giant tanks will allow the Alaskan Brewing Co. to expand and — at least temporarily — quench the need to find a new home.

The 1,300-barrel tanks were delivered Thursday as the Juneau brewery continues steady expansion.

In 1987, the company brewed 1,500 barrels of beer. Since 2005, it’s been more than 100,000 barrels yearly. The brewery expects to increase beer production by 11 percent this year.

The company expanded into the Colorado market last year and has introduced the new Alaskan White, a coriander and orange beer.

Plant manager Curtis Holmes says finding room on its existing property to expand was something of a magic trick. Many breweries its size have moved as production increases, but Holmes says Juneau is a hard place to find industrial land.
