AURORA, Colo.—The Shuck Corp. isn’t the only one working on plans for a racetrack in Aurora.
Oakwood Homes Chairman Pat Hamill said Thursday he is in active discussions with International Speedway Corp. and city officials to build a mixed-use project anchored with a racetrack that could draw NASCAR events near Interstate 70 and E-470.
On Wednesday, the Colorado-Springs based Schuck Corp. announced a $200 million racetrack project. It is not currently in talks with ISC, but founder Steve Schuck says his firm has talked with ISC before.
Both track proposals hope to receive millions of dollars in tax subsidies expected from a tourism and economic development bill awaiting Gov. Bill Ritter’s signature.
