Colorado State University will interview three finalists to be chief of the school’s police department.
Former Chief Dexter Yarbrough was suspended pending a personnel investigation and faced allegations that he condoned illegal activity. He resigned March 6.
The finalists to replace him are Joe Pittman, current chief of police at the University of Alaska-Anchorage; Wendy Rich-Goldschmidt, current chief of police at the University of Northern Colorado; and Jerry Schiager, a commander with the Fort Collins Police Department.
The finalists will be in Fort Collins in June to meet with the university and the Fort Collins community.
Dates of the public forums with each of the candidates will be announced shortly, said CSU.
“The committee received applications from an exceptionally strong pool of candidates for this position,” said Blanche Hughes, vice president of student affairs and chairwoman of the search committee.
“We believe that out of this pool, we can confidently recommend a candidate with the ability to lead the university’s police department and work with the larger Fort Collins community,” she added.
