An argument between two groups of people Sunday morning in Denver led to a fatal shooting, police said.

The incident happened at about 8 a.m. in the 3400 block of York Street, police spokesman Sonny Jackson said.

Police were called to a parking lot on a report of a shooting and found evidence, but no victim, Jackson said.

Investigators learned that a man who had been shot was taken by friends to Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center and was then transferred to Denver Health Medical Center, where he died.

The shooter fled the scene in a white Chevrolet Suburban, Jackson said.

The victim was not identified by police, and the investigation is ongoing.

Police did not say what the argument was about.
