Hitting second suits Clint Barmes. Since new manager Jim Tracy moved Barmes into the No. 2 spot in the order Friday, Barmes has thrived. On a night when the Rockies struggled at the plate, he went 2-for-4 with a double. He’s hitting .471 (8-for-17) over the last four games.

Astros coach returns.

Monday was not just another night at the ballpark for Astros hitting coach Sean Berry. Berry, 43, was back with his team for the first time since undergoing surgery May 8 to remove a kidney with a cancerous tumor. Though he’s not strong enough to throw batting practice yet, he’s hopeful of coaching the team for the rest of the season. “I’m extremely fortunate,” Berry told reporters. “Someone was looking out for me. A lot of times when they find it, it’s a little too late. A few more months, it could’ve gotten into the blood supply and the fatty tissue where it’s not such a good thing. I’m fortunate.”
