SANTIAGO, Chile — The nation’s health minister announced South America’s first swine-flu death — a 37-year-old Chilean plumber. Health Minister Alvaro Erazo said Fernando Vera died Monday in Puerto Montt. Chile has confirmed 313 cases of the swine flu, more than any other nation in South America.
