CITY OF HOPE’S NATIONAL HOME FURNISHINGS INDUSTRY: Honored Jake Jabs, president and chief executive of American Furniture Warehouse, with the Lifetime Achievement Award. The award recognizes Jabs’ outstanding philanthropic and business accomplishments. The group recently gathered for the 18th annual West Coast Golf and Tennis Tournament, raising more than $400,000 for City of Hope’s research and treatment of cancer and other diseases.

UNIVERSITY OF NORTHERN COLORADO: Announced that Abe Harraf, senior vice president and provost, was selected for an inaugural year-long 21st Century Leadership Institute for Provosts and Chief Academic Officers, sponsored by the American Academic Leadership Institute, the American Association of State Colleges and Universities and the Council of Independent Colleges.

AMERICAN ACADEMY OF AMBULATORY CARE NURSING: Vickie Leger, director of nursing for Denver Community Health Services at Denver Health, recently received the Excellence in Administrative Ambulatory Nursing Practice Award for mentoring peers and colleagues, sharing expertise, promoting interdisciplinary collegial working relationships and demonstrating effective management.
