BOULDER — The University of Colorado’s flagship campus will cut $12.9 million from its budget, partly by eliminating 75 faculty and staff positions, trimming its investments in long-term plans and slowing the pace that it replaces its computers and campus technology.
There are smaller budget-trimming chores too — employees are being asked to take out their own trash to save on garbage services.
The Daily Camera reported that campus officials expect to make minimal layoffs because last fall — bracing for potential budget cuts — they asked departments to leave positions vacant when employees retired or quit, said Ric Porreca, CU’s chief financial officer.
