COOK THE BOUNTY

A crop of tomato solutions

The tomatoes may just now be putting down roots in the garden, but it’s never too early to be worrying about the potential overbounty. Food writer Brian Yarvin gave the issue some thought and came up with 100 recipes to help ease the burden of too much fruit from the vine. After one thumbing through “The Too Many Tomatoes Cookbook,” a dozen pages are already dog-eared. Sauces! Side dishes! Savory tomato pie! $19.95, The Countryman Press

Mark your calendar: You’ll be learning about bees and butterflies and their garden work on June 23 and about cultivating turf and ornamental grasses on July 7. Head up there a little early so you can take a stroll through the demonstration garden at 1401 Remington St. — as if you needed an excuse.
