GREELEY, Colo.—A Greeley police sergeant who was demoted, fired and then reinstated after a bar fight last year is back on duty as night shift sergeant.

Fifty-two-year-old Kell Hulsey pleaded guilty in neighboring Larimer County last month to disorderly conduct-fighting in public after a 2008 brawl in Livermore.

He was ordered to pay about $1,300 in restitution and court costs. Under a one-year unsupervised deferred sentence, the charge would be dismissed if he isn’t involved in another crime for a year.

Prosecutors dropped assault and harassment charges.

Police Chief Jerry Garner says Hulsey has been disciplined and the case has been closed. He says Hulsey “has been doing an excellent job” since the bar fight.

The Greeley Tribune says Hulsey declined requests for an interview.
