Denver’s plan to stimulate the home-improvement industry by giving out free building permits has been a big hit, with permits for nearly $1.5 million of work being pulled in just the first four days of the program.
The city reported Friday that 291 permits were pulled in the first four days of this week, nearly double the rate of permits applied for last month. Those receiving the permits saved $17,769 in fees.
The program is good through June 15. The free permits, issued on the spot, are good for 180 days.
Permits may be obtained at the “Quick Permit” window on the second floor of the Webb Municipal Building, 201 W. Colfax Ave. The window is open four days a week from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Wednesdays, the window opens at 8:30 a.m. Mike McPhee, The Denver Post
