PUEBLO, Colo.—An Alamosa man transporting a baby alligator has been cited after a crash that ejected a 4-year-old girl from a minivan.

Colorado State Patrol Sgt. Wallace Lathrop says 35-year-old James Pascoe of Alamosa was cited for failure to stop and careless driving causing serious bodily injury.

Authorities say Pascoe was southbound on a Pueblo street at about 4:25 p.m. Wednesday when he ran a stop sign and struck an eastbound minivan driven by a 15-year-old boy.

Thirty-seven-year-old Jorge Orosco of Pueblo was airlifted to a hospital in serious condition. Thirty-two-year-old Moncerrat Dominguez of Pueblo is listed in fair condition.

The names and conditions of the children haven’t been released.

Pascoe, his wife, the alligator and a turtle weren’t hurt.
