GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo.—Authorities say the body of a girl found under apple trees a quarter mile from the interstate near Glenwood Springs may have been dumped there after she was killed somewhere else.

Garfield County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Holly Hopple says the killer may have committed the crime in another county and disposed of the body in the apple orchard 5 miles west of Glenwood Springs. A worker found the body Friday morning.

An autopsy was conducted on the girl Saturday but police have not released her name or age. Authorities say no one has been reported missing in the county.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation and Grand Junction investigators are among the law enforcement assisting local authorities. No one has been arrested.
