Brendan Mundorf had a hat trick and two assists to lead the Denver Outlaws to a 16-9 Major League Lacrosse victory over the Long Island Lizards at Invesco Field at Mile High on Saturday night.
Mundorf had an unassisted goal and assisted on Max Seibald’s two-pointer in the first quarter, when Denver built a 6-2 lead. Seibald, the overall No. 2 selection in the MLL draft in May and the college player of the year at Cornell, has a two-pointer in both of his games for the Outlaws.
The two teams played to a 2-2 draw in the second quarter, then Denver won the third 6-2 — on goals by six players — to take a 14-6 lead into the final quarter.
Sky Sox split doubleheader.
Right-hander Adam Eaton (1-0) pitched five innings of three-hit, one-walk ball to lead the host Colorado Springs Sky Sox to a 5-0 Pacific Coast League victory over the Las Vegas 51s in the first game of a doubleheader.
Las Vegas won the nightcap 1-0 on a seventh-inning sacrifice fly by Russ Adams.
In the opener, the Sky Sox got on the board in the bottom of the first inning when Matt Miller’s ground-rule double scored shortstop Jonathan Herrera, who had walked. Miller moved to third base on a wild pitch and scored on Matt Murton’s sacrifice fly.
Colorado Springs got two more runs in the third on back-to-back-to-back doubles by Chris Frey, Murton and Mark Bellhorn.
Moores lead Father-Son.
Kent and Steven Moore of Cherry Hills Country Club shot a 5-under-par 67 for a one-stroke lead heading into today’s final round of the Colorado Golf Association’s Father-Son Championship at Cougar Canyon Golf Links in Trinidad.
