When Jason Hammel doubles, he’s unbeatable. The right-hander sliced a double down the right-field line in the fourth inning Sunday for the second hit of his career. It was the cherry on top of his fourth straight victory. Hammel’s first career hit came in his first big-league at-bat, a double off Livan Hernandez on June 18, 2007, at Arizona. Pitching in relief for Tampa Bay at the time, Hammel also notched his first major-league win that day.
Sacrifice flying.
Troy Tulowitzki drove in the Rockies’ first run with a sacrifice fly in the second inning. Tulo- witzki leads the National League with six sacrifice flies, and the Rockies lead the majors with 27.
Atkins rebounds.
Starting for the first time since June 7 at St. Louis, third baseman Garrett Atkins went 3-for-4, lining three solid singles. His second three-hit game of the season — the first was April 21 at Arizona — boosted Atkins’ average to .204.
