U.S. 285 near Antero Junction was closed for several hours today after a Ford pickup drifted into the path of a beer truck.

The driver of the pickup, who has not yet been identified, was killed.

By about 5:15 p.m. today, the Colorado State Patrol was still investigating as crews worked to remove the wreckage of the the beer truck from the mountain highway about 20 miles south of Fairplay, said Trooper David Hall.

The head-on collision happened at 9:45 a.m. The driver of the Freightliner tractor-trailer did not have life-threatening injuries, Hall said.

The truck rolled on its left side, spilling much of its load, he said.
