Xcel Energy natural-gas bills in July would drop 12 percent for residential customers and 24 percent for small businesses compared with June rates under a cost adjustment filed with the Colorado Public Utilities Commission.
Xcel files for an adjustment each month based on market prices for natural gas. Xcel said in a statement that the Colorado Interstate Gas basis for July is 87 cents below the June estimate.
A typical residential bill would drop to $18.70, based on projected use of 16.0 therms, compared with a $21.26 June bill on use of 17.8 therms. A therm is equal to about 97 cubic feet of natural gas.
