COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—A paraglider died when he crashed into the side of Mt. Herman near Monument.
Sgt. Jeanette Whitney of the El Paso County sheriff’s office says the man, who was in his early 50s, was unconscious and not breathing when hikers found him Friday. The man’s name was being withheld until his family could be contacted.
Whitney says the man was paragliding alone when he lost control and struck the side of the mountain shortly after 1:30 p.m. Hikers tried but failed to resuscitate him.
A Flight for Life helicopter landed near the crash site around 2:30. Medics on board pronounced the man dead.
