A snatch-and-run jewel thief who has targeted jewelry-store clerks is being sought by authorities.

The suspect, a Latino male in his 20s, has targeted the Samuel’s Jewelry Store in Southwest Plaza and the Helzberg Jewelry Store at FlatIron Crossing in Broomfield.

In both cases, the man said he had a large sum of cash with him and that he wanted to see some wedding rings because he was headed to Las Vegas to get married, according to investigators.

At the Samuel’s Jewelry store, he first looked at a gold setting then asked to see a platinum ring. As the female clerk was preparing to give the first ring back for comparison, the suspect grabbed the ring and ran out of the store with both.

The suspect, described as 6-foot-1 and weighing 180 pounds, was seen getting into a newer white Nissan Maxima or Altima with no rear license plate.

He was wearing a black polo shirt and blue jeans.

Anyone with information about the robberies is asked to contact the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office tipline at 303-271-5612.
