FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Denver Nuggets radio announcer Jerry Schemmel will do play-by-play broadcasts for Colorado State football and men’s basketball next season.
Colorado State made the announcement on Friday
Schemmel will continue play-by-play broadcasts of Nuggets home games.
He replaces Rich Bircumshaw, who died in April. Bircumshaw had broadcast Rams games since 2002.
Schemmel survived the 1989 crash of a United Airlines DC-10 in Sioux City, Iowa. He was deputy commissioner of the Continental Basketball Association at the time and was on his way from Denver to Columbus, Ohio, for the league’s annual player draft.
