Climb 4 Life to fight cancer
Named after the Greek goddess of women and marriage and as an acronym for “health, empowerment, research and awareness,” the HERA Women’s Cancer Foundation’s hiking and climbing event raises money for ovarian cancer research and awareness. On Friday and Saturday, hike and rock climb in the canyons and on trails in the Boulder/Denver area. Climbers with experience will be grouped according to ability and led by a professional climber. Colorado Mountain School instructors will help rock-climbing newbies. Other activities include morning yoga classes, massages, and a dinner/dance party. One in 71 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer this year. With early detection, more than 90 percent will survive. But, only 24 percent of ovarian cancer is caught early. Bikes and trees
Fort Collins city forester Tim Buchanan will lead an easy 6-mile (one-way) bike tour of a dozen notable trees of Fort Collins on Sunday morning. Participants will also receive information on more than 30 trees that are rare, unusual or unique to visit on their own. Tour begins 9:30 a.m. at City Park Pool (City Park Drive and Byran Street) and ends at noon at the downtown Library Park. A new way of walking
