The Rhode Island casino owned by BLB Investors — which operates the Arapahoe Park horse track at Aurora and Mile High Greyhound Park in Commerce City — filed for bankruptcy protection Tuesday.
The two Colorado properties are not part of the bankruptcy, according to casino spokeswoman Patti Doyle. Under Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization, about $290 million in debt would be eliminated for the Twin Rivers Casino in Lincoln, R.I., and new management would be installed.
The court filing in federal bankruptcy court in Rhode Island was the result of negotiations between creditors and UTGR Inc., the BLB subsidiary that operates the casino.
