PEW SCHOLARS: Jennifer DeLuca, an assistant professor of biochemistry at Colorado State University, has been named one of 17 2009 Pew Scholars in biomedical sciences. DeLuca will receive a $240,000 grant for four years for her research into how cells divide, a process known as mitosis.

JANUS CAPITAL GROUP INC.: Appointed Jason Stefanelli as vice president and institutional sales director with Janus Capital Group Institutional. Before joining Janus, Stefanelli was vice president with Wellington Management Co. LLP.

CREDIT UNION SERVICE NETWORK: Elected Branda Abbott, president and CEO of Colorado United Credit Union, to the board of directors.

ASSOCIATION FOR CORPORATE GROWTH: Appointed Chris Wilt, a partner at Grant Thornton’s Denver office, to the board of directors of the Denver chapter.

NATIONAL HOUSING ENDOWMENT: The philanthropic arm of the National Association of Home Builders awarded Ben Bigelow, a Colorado State University doctoral candidate, a $4,294 grant to study the impact of participation in undergraduate residential-construction management competitions.

COLORADO BAR ASSOCIATION: Elected Cynthia Ciancio, a shareholder at Donelson Ciancio & Goodwin P.C., as treasurer for the family law section.

COLORADO COMMUNITY COLLEGE SYSTEM: Named Todd Bergren, professor of biology at the Community College of Aurora, as chairman of the State Faculty Advisory Council.
