HOUSTON — R. Allen Stanford, the Texas financier accused of leading a $7 billion fraud, will appear before a U.S. magistrate judge in Houston on Thursday, prosecutors said.
Stanford will have a detention hearing to determine whether he can be released on bail or held until he can be tried on fraud charges related to an alleged Ponzi scheme involving the sale of certificates of deposit at his Antiguan bank.
