Brendan Mundorf and Matt Brown each had two goals in the decisive third quarter as the Denver Outlaws beat the host Toronto Nationals 20-16 on Saturday to stay atop the Major League Lacrosse standings.

Denver led 10-8 at halftime, then outscored Toronto 6-2 in the third quarter. Even goalie Jesse Schwartzman got in the act in the third, assisting on Drew Westervelt’s goal.

Brown finished with six goals and an assist, and Mundorf had five goals and one assist. Westervelt had a hat trick, and Josh Sims and Dan Hardy each had a pair of goals. Schwartzman had nine saves on 22 shots.

The Outlaws are 6-1 and have a 1 1/2-game lead over Long Island (4-2).

Brown maintains lead at Publinx.

First-round leader Zahkai Brown of Indian Tree Golf Course in Arvada has a one-shot lead over Colorado State teammate Riley Arp heading into today’s final round of the Colorado Golf Association’s Public Links Championship at Flatirons Golf Course in Boulder.

Brown, a sophomore-to-be, shot a 2-under-par 68 in the second round for a 6-under total of 134, one better than Arp, of Collindale Golf Course, who’s heading into his senior season in Fort Collins. Arp’s 67 included seven birdies, which helped offset a double bogey on the 17th hole.

Song bests DU recruit Kim.

University of Denver recruit Kimberly Kim was not able to add a second USGA title to her resume, losing 7 and 6 to Jennifer Song of La Canada, Calif., in the 36-hole final of the Women’s Public Links at Red Tail G.C. in Devens, Mass.

Kim, of Hilo, Hawaii, was the youngest to win the Women’s Amateur in 2006, when she was 14. Song was the runner-up at the NCAA championship this spring and runner-up at the Public Links last year.

“Birdman” goes camping.

Chris Andersen may not be in Denver by August, but he still wants to reach out to the Denver community with “Birdman’s Back To School Camp” from Aug. 10-13. The unrestricted free agent — who publicly said he wants to re-sign with the Nuggets — will host his camp with the help of title sponsor American Family Insurance. The camp will be held at the Regency Hotel (3900 Elati St.) and is available to boys and girls ages 7-18. More information is available at or by calling 720-292-6184. The NBA free-agency period begins Wednesday.
