The winner: Janice Frank-Tappy, Sterling: This wonderful bronze sculpture, Dream Redeemer, was created by the very talented Brad Rhea of Merino, and sits in Prairie Park in Sterling. When it was headed to its new location I was driving behind it and couldn’t get take my eyes off of it. I drive by it nearly every day when I take my son to school. This sculpture represents broken dreams. He appears to inflate balloons by cranking them out of his machine, once again giving hope to new dreams. It was unveiled on September 7, 2008 in a cute little park next to the recreation center and is well worth the drive to go see it.

Jackie Scheck, Sterling: I took my grandchildren to the Prarie Park, the site of the Dream Redeemer on May 30. This is a relatively new park in the town of Sterling, opening late in the summer of 2008. This sculpture wass created by Brad Rhea, a local artist who has created many scultures for the Sterling Community. The plaque at the sculpture reads:

Dream Redeemer

Ticks and tocks of magic clocks

Hands whirling as they run

Meshing gears reqind the years

Erasing all that’s done

Night and day he churns away

With passion he redeems

Defeated lives his throne revives

Machining all new dreams

Linda Bond, Sterling: The Dream Redeemer in Sterling’s Prairie Park, was created and donated by Brad Rhea, a local artist who has created several tree sculptures around the City. Sterling is known as the city with all the tree sculptures. Prairie Park is across the street from the new outdoor pool and now has pavilions that can be used for family picnics. The Dream Redeemer is a bronze creature that is said to take in a broken dream and redeems them into new dreams.

Kate Lindstadt, Sterling: This amazing statue is found in Prairie Park in Sterling, Colorado. My son and daughter are lifeguards at the wonderful outdoor swimming pool across the street, and I often sit in the park waiting for them. This fanciful statue, with its accompanying poem written by Mr. Rhea, guards the park and is one of many statues in the town of Sterling by the artist.

Lance and Sharon Russell, Sterling: The Dream Redeemer is located at the new Prairie Park located in Sterling. We have had the privilege of calling the sculptor Bradford Rhea our friend and neighbor for many years. We were fortunate to see this project in its many stages of development until its final placement at the new park and dedication last September. The details in the sculptor are amazing. You can look at it many, many times and still see new things.

Leroy and Anna Pyle, Sterling: Brad Rhea was contracted to do a bronze sculpture for the park, leaving it up to him what he wanted to do. This creature is what his mystical imagination has come up with.

Please come to our City and view the numerous sculptures that are located here. The wood sculptures were originally made from ugly dead trees, and were decaying, so Sterling is restoring them so they will last much longer.
